This is our Baby. We have had this car since 1979. She has been through three paint jobs and interiors. Our two kids grew up in this car going to Rod Runs, Cruise In’s and Car Show’s, listening to 50’s and 60’s music. She has had her engine upgraded from a 283 to a 327 to a 350 Chevy. It has a 4 speed Muncie trans with a 60’s vintage Hurst shifter. At this point in time we are redoing her again. I have some damage to the front (grill shell), so she needs attention anyway. But, She is a driver and shows her medals (road rash) of the trips we have taken in her. The extent of the project kind of depends on me. I want to put new front springs in and bushings and check out the ball joints. Also plan on new wiring and a fresh paint job. The flames will stay and the color won’t change. I want to get the head lights to be better then they are. Will re chrome the reflectors so I can see better then in the past. The interior will get done, but that will be toward the end of the project. We do all of our own work from body work to painting her. The electrical, interior and all mechanicals will be done by the wife and I. We want to powder coat the A-arms and a few other things as well. So, we got to get busy.
Afternoon Delight is the theme song to our car and was released May 8, 1976 by the Starland Vocal Band. Their only hit record.

Well, it looks like I have found a little time to do some things to our 37. And it’s a bout time. I dug out the Grill Shell, that I got from Texas and took it outside to sandblast. Got that job done and started getting it ready to put the grill in it. I had to weld the bottom together, as it had been split apart, which is pretty common place with this grill shell, it appears. After I got it welded and hammered out a few dings, and welded up the pieces that the grill mounts to. It didn’t fit! Apparently it had been pushed in at the bottom and made a arch in the shell about 1/3 of the way up the front. When I try to install the grill, the shell has a bow in it. So I cut the weld to see it that was the culprit and it was not. So, the next thing I have to do is un-weld the mounting pieces that the grill fastens to and see if I can straighten that out to get rid of the bow. I may have to get the torch out and do some heat shrinking, to get it back to the right shape. I don’t want any stress on the grill or the shell, because once you get the shell in, you have to place the grill in and fasten it down. So a little more work on the shell, then fit the grill in it, I hope. I will add some picks as I can. In the meantime, I’m driving it! Stay Tuned.
